{"id":4,"date":"2016-11-03T17:11:37","date_gmt":"2016-11-03T16:11:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.austrianresistance.org\/?page_id=4"},"modified":"2026-04-26T04:03:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T02:03:13","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.austrianresistance.org\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The American Friends of the Documentation Center of Austrian Resistance is a non-profit organization established in 2011 with the purpose of furthering the mission of the Documentation Center of Austrian Resistance (<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.austrianresistance.org\/?page_id=12\">D\u00d6W<\/a>), fostering dialogue between the D\u00d6W and North American scholars, and promoting scholarly research in Austrian contemporary history, cultural studies and political science relating to Austria, with a special focus on the Nazi era.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The D\u00d6W, located in Vienna, is one of the Republic of Austria&#8217;s most important institutes for the study of National Socialism and a major repository for documents, books, articles and data bases concerning Austria under Nazi rule and the aftermath of Nazism in the Second Austrian Republic.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Announcement: Radomir Luza Prize 2026<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>American Friends of the Documentation Center of Austrian Resistance<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>The German Studies Association<\/em>&nbsp;are pleased to announce the annual Radomir Luza Prize for an outstanding work in the field of&nbsp;<strong>Austrian and\/or Czechoslovak history<\/strong>&nbsp;in the 20th Century<strong>&nbsp;with a special focus on Austrian\/Czechoslovak Studies in the World War II Era<\/strong>.&nbsp;This prize, initiated in 2012 by&nbsp;<em>Center Austria: The Marshall Plan Center for European Studies at the University of New Orleans<\/em>, has been bestowed since 2017 by the&nbsp;<em>German Studies Association<\/em>&nbsp;(GSA) and carries a cash award of $1000.00. It seeks seeks to encourage research in the history of Austria and Czechoslovakia focusing on the time period of the 1930s and 1940s, i.e. on the fields&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.austrianresistance.org\/?page_id=66\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Professor Radom\u00edr Lu\u017ea<\/a>&nbsp;worked in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be eligible for the 2026 Radomir Luza Prize competition, the&nbsp;<strong>book&nbsp;<\/strong>or&nbsp;<strong>dissertation&nbsp;<\/strong>must have been published (or a dissertation defended)&nbsp;<strong>between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025<\/strong>.&nbsp; Authors must be citizens or resident aliens (holders of \u201cgreen cards\u201d) of the United States or Canada.&nbsp;<strong>Dissertations must have been awarded by a North American University<\/strong>.&nbsp;The language of the work must be English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be considered for the Radomir Luza Prize competition, please send a copy of your work electronically to:&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:winfried.garscha@doew.at\">winfried.garscha@doew.at<\/a>.
