{"id":8,"date":"2016-11-03T17:13:18","date_gmt":"2016-11-03T16:13:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.austrianresistance.org\/?page_id=8"},"modified":"2026-04-26T03:56:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T01:56:27","slug":"radomir-luza-prize","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.austrianresistance.org\/?page_id=8","title":{"rendered":"Radomir Luza Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <em>American Friends of the Documentation Center of Austrian Resistance<\/em> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.centeraustria.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Center Austria<\/a>: the Austrian Marshall Plan Center for European Studies of the University of New Orleans<\/em> have conducted the search for the Radomir Luza Prize for an outstanding work in the field of Austrian and\/or Czechoslovak World War II studies since 2012. The prize is named after the first distinguished historian of the Austrian anti-Nazi resistance, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.austrianresistance.org\/?page_id=66\">Radom\u00edr Lu\u017ea<\/a> (1922\u20132009).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The prize is awarded for outstanding work in the field of Austrian and\/or Czechoslovak history in the 20th century. <\/strong>This prize carries a cash award of $1,000. financed by the <em>Zukunftsfonds der Republik \u00d6sterreich<\/em> (the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zukunftsfonds-austria.at\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Future Fund of the Republic of Austria<\/a>). It seeks to encourage research in the above mentioned fields focusing on the time period of the 1930s and 1940s. Since 2017, the prize has been bestowed by the German Studies Association (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegsa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GSA<\/a>); the award ceremony is part of the Friday Evening Banquet, during the annual GSA conference.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for the 2026 Radomir Luza Prize competition, the\u00a0<strong>book\u00a0<\/strong>or\u00a0<strong>dissertation\u00a0<\/strong>must have been published (or a dissertation defended)\u00a0<strong>between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025<\/strong>.\u00a0 Authors must be citizens or resident aliens (holders of \u201cgreen cards\u201d) of the United States or Canada.\u00a0<strong>Dissertations must have been awarded by a North American University<\/strong>.\u00a0The language of the work must be English.<\/p>\n<p>To be considered for the Radomir Luza Prize competition, please send a copy of your work electronically to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:winfried.garscha@doew.at\">winfried.garscha@doew.at<\/a>.
