The American Friends of the Documentation Center of Austrian Resistance and Center Austria: the Austrian Marshall Plan Center for European Studies of the University of New Orleans have conducted the search for the Radomir Luza Prize for an outstanding work in the field of Austrian and/or Czechoslovak World War II studies since 2012. The prize is named after the first distinguished historian of the Austrian anti-Nazi resistance, Radomír Luža (1922–2009).
The prize is awarded for outstanding work in the field of Austrian and/or Czechoslovak history in the 20th century. This prize carries a cash award of $1,000. financed by the Zukunftsfonds der Republik Österreich (the Future Fund of the Republic of Austria). It seeks to encourage research in the above mentioned fields focusing on the time period of the 1930s and 1940s. Since 2017, the prize has been bestowed by the German Studies Association (GSA); the award ceremony is part of the Friday Evening Banquet, during the annual GSA conference.
To be eligible for the 2026 Radomir Luza Prize competition, the book or dissertation must have been published (or a dissertation defended) between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025. Authors must be citizens or resident aliens (holders of “green cards”) of the United States or Canada. Dissertations must have been awarded by a North American University. The language of the work must be English.

The awarding ceremony will take place during the Fiftieth Annual Conference of the German Studies Association to be held from Sept. 24 through 27 2026 in the Hyatt Regency hotel in Phoenix, Arizona.
